The Department of Journalism and Communication at Hong Kong Shue Yan University hosted the second Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Media Design and Immersive Technology (BA-MDIT) Graduation Exhibition. At the opening ceremony, the prestigious “SenseTime Grand Prize” was awarded to students who demonstrated exceptional skill in applying immersive technology to real-world scenarios.

 

The ceremony was officiated by Dr Hu Fai-chung, HKSYU President; Mr Leung Wang-ching, Under Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs; Mr Lewis Fung, Managing Director of Hong Kong ABG of SenseTime; Mr Terence Leung, Senior Manager of Cyberport Hong Kong; Professor Sun Tien-lun, HKSYU Senior Vice President; Dr Chow Tak-sang, HKSYU Vice President (University Administration); and Dr Tong Suk-chong, Acting Head of Department of Journalism and Communication of HKSYU.

 

In his address, Dr Chow highlighted HKSYU’s commitment to advancing digital humanities. He emphasised that digital humanities are not simply about merging technology with the humanities, but about re-examining the relationships between culture, history, memory, and society through digital tools. Technology, he noted, can preserve and reinterpret culture, reconstruct memories, and create entirely new experiences.
