In 2026, alumnus YIU Kin-man serves as the Chief Information Officer at the Hospital Authority.
Shue Yan’s journalism programme in its early days, despite limited resources, was known as the cradle of top journalists in Hong Kong. YIU Kin-man was one of them. Majored in journalism, YIU entered the industry after spending the summer of his junior year as an intern at a television station and thereby developed a career working for major electronic media outlets.
With over a decade of news reporting experiences, YIU has travelled to different corners of the world. In 2003, he was twice in Iraq during the United States invasion of the country, reporting on the suffering of the local people amidst the war. In 2004, following the South Asian tsunami, he was dispatched to the hardest-hit area, Banda Aceh in Indonesia, where he witnessed the devastating aftermath firsthand. Over the years, he has covered numerous major international news stories, natural disasters, and breaking news events.
In 2008, he made a career pivot from the journalism industry to public relations and communications. He first served as a PR Manager at the Chinese Culinary Institute of the Vocational Training Council, and later became the Chief Information Officer at the Hospital Authority, coordinating the communications efforts of the Hospital Authority’s head office and various public hospitals.
