Alumna Ariene CHAN, who graduated ten years ago, returned to her alma mater on the eve of its 55th anniversary to accept an exclusive interview with Shue Yan Newsletter. She shared that she has been deeply inspired by the school motto, "Cultivating virtues of benevolence; broadening horizon and knowledge" (敦仁博物). She believes that beyond possessing a benevolent heart, one must consider the needs of others across all aspects of life—whether in the workplace, at home, or in interpersonal relationships. Reflecting on society, she noted that many misunderstandings and conflicts stem from a lack of perspective-taking. If everyone could step into others' shoes, think a step further, and show greater understanding and tolerance, many problems would naturally resolve themselves.
